'Abdullah told us, he said: I found it in my father's book, in his own handwriting, and I believe I have heard it from him -- 'Ali ibn 'Abdullah told us, Nasih ibn al-'Ala', the freedman of Banu Hashim, told us, 'Ammar ibn Abi 'Ammar, the freedman of Banu Hashim, told us: that he passed by 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Samura while he was at the canal of Umm 'Abdullah, with the water flowing, along with his young servants and freedmen. 'Ammar said to him, "O Abu Sa'id, what about the Friday prayer?" 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Samura said to him: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say: 'When it is a day of pouring rain, let each of you pray in his dwelling.'" 'Abdullah told us, 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Umar al-Qawariri told me, Nasih ibn al-'Ala' Abu al-'Ala' told us, 'Ammar ibn Abi 'Ammar told us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Samura, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, similarly. Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: I heard al-Qawariri say: I used to pass by Nasih and he would narrate to me; and when I asked him for more, he would say, "I have nothing beyond this," and he was blind.
