Mus'ab b. Sallam told us: al-Ajlah told us, from Abu Bakr b. Abi Musa, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent me to Yemen, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, there are certain drinks there - what should I drink and what should I avoid?" He said, "What are they?" I said, "Al-bit' and al-mizr." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did not know what they were, so he said, "What is al-bit' and what is al-mizr?" I said, "As for al-bit', it is a fermented drink of corn, cooked until it becomes bit'; and as for al-mizr, it is a fermented drink of honey." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Do not drink anything intoxicating."
