حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ عَلْقَمَةُ بْنُ مَرْثَدٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي الْقَبْرِ إِذَا سُئِلَ فَعَرَفَ رَبَّهُ قَالَ وَقَالَ شَيْءٌ لَا أَحْفَظُهُ فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { يُثَبِّتُ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِالْقَوْلِ الثَّابِتِ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ }.

Affan told us: Shu'bah told us: Alqamah ibn Marthad said: [Someone] informed me, from Sa'd ibn Ubaydah, from al-Bara' ibn Azib, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said concerning the grave: "When he is questioned and recognizes his Lord"—he said something I do not remember—"that is [the meaning of] His saying, Mighty and Majestic: 'Allah confirms those who believe with the firm word in the life of this world and in the Hereafter.'"
