حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ حَجَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَجَّةَ الْوَدَاعِ قَالَ فَصَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ أَوْ الْفَجْرِ قَالَ ثُمَّ انْحَرَفَ جَالِسًا أَوْ اسْتَقْبَلَ النَّاسَ بِوَجْهِهِ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِرَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ وَرَاءِ النَّاسِ لَمْ يُصَلِّيَا مَعَ النَّاسِ فَقَالَ ائْتُونِي بِهَذَيْنِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ قَالَ فَأُتِيَ بِهِمَا تَرْعَدُ فَرَائِصُهُمَا فَقَالَ مَا مَنَعَكُمَا أَنْ تُصَلِّيَا مَعَ النَّاسِ قَالَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا قَدْ كُنَّا صَلَّيْنَا فِي الرِّحَالِ قَالَ فَلَا تَفْعَلَا إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فِي رَحْلِهِ ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ فَلْيُصَلِّهَا مَعَهُ فَإِنَّهَا لَهُ نَافِلَةٌ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ قَالَ وَنَهَضَ النَّاسُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَهَضْتُ مَعَهُمْ وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ أَشَبُّ الرِّجَالِ وَأَجْلَدُهُ قَالَ فَمَا زِلْتُ أَزْحَمُ النَّاسَ حَتَّى وَصَلْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ فَوَضَعْتُهَا إِمَّا عَلَى وَجْهِي أَوْ صَدْرِي قَالَ فَمَا وَجَدْتُ شَيْئًا أَطْيَبَ وَلَا أَبْرَدَ مِنْ يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْخَيْفِ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ وَشُعْبَةُ وَشَرِيكٌ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْفَجْرِ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْخَيْفِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ قَالَ شَرِيكٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي قَالَ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ وَقَالَ أَسْوَدُ أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ السُّوَائِيَّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصُّبْحَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ ثُمَّ ثَارَ النَّاسُ يَأْخُذُونَ بِيَدِهِ يَمْسَحُونَ بِهَا وُجُوهَهُمْ قَالَ فَأَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ فَمَسَحْتُ بِهَا وَجْهِي فَوَجَدْتُهَا أَبْرَدَ مِنْ الثَّلْجِ وَأَطْيَبَ رِيحًا مِنْ الْمِسْكِ.

Bahz told us, Abu Awanah told us, from Ya'la ibn Ata', from Jabir ibn Yazid ibn al-Aswad, from his father, who said: We performed the Hajj with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, the Farewell Pilgrimage. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, led us in the dawn prayer. He said: Then he turned while sitting, or turned to face the people, and there were two men behind the people who had not prayed with them. He said: Bring me these two men. He said: So they were brought, trembling. He said: What prevented you two from praying with the people? They said: O Messenger of Allah, we had already prayed in our lodgings. He said: Do not do that; when one of you prays in his lodging, then reaches the prayer with the imam, let him pray it with him, for it will be supererogatory for him. He said: Then one of them said: Ask forgiveness for me, O Messenger of Allah, and he asked forgiveness for him. He said: And the people rose up toward the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and I rose with them, and I was on that day the youngest and strongest of the men. He said: I kept pressing through the people until I reached the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and I took his hand and placed it either on my face or my chest. He said: I never found anything sweeter or cooler than the hand of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: And this was on that day in the Mosque of al-Khayf. Yazid ibn Harun told us, Hisham ibn Hassan, Shu'bah, and Sharik informed us, from Ya'la ibn Ata', from Jabir ibn Yazid, from his father, who said: We prayed the dawn prayer with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in the Mosque of al-Khayf — and he mentioned the hadith. He said: Sharik said in his narration: One of them said: O Messenger of Allah, ask forgiveness for me. He said: May Allah forgive you. Aswad ibn Amir and Abu al-Nadr told us, they said: Shu'bah told us — Abu al-Nadr said: from Ya'la ibn Ata' — and Aswad said: Ya'la ibn Ata' informed me, who said: I heard Jabir ibn Yazid ibn al-Aswad al-Suwa'i, from his father, that he prayed the dawn prayer with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him — and he mentioned the hadith. He said: Then the people surged forward, taking his hand and wiping their faces with it. He said: So I took his hand and wiped my face with it, and found it cooler than snow and more fragrant than musk.
