حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْفَجْرَ بِمِنًى فَانْحَرَفَ فَرَأَى رَجُلَيْنِ وَرَاءَ النَّاسِ فَدَعَا بِهِمَا فَجِيءَ بِهِمَا تَرْعَدُ فَرَائِصُهُمَا فَقَالَ مَا مَنَعَكُمَا أَنْ تُصَلِّيَا مَعَ النَّاسِ فَقَالَا قَدْ كُنَّا صَلَّيْنَا فِي الرِّحَالِ قَالَ فَلَا تَفْعَلَا إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فِي رَحْلِهِ ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ فَلْيُصَلِّهَا مَعَهُ فَإِنَّهَا لَهُ نَافِلَةٌ.

Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi told us, Sufyan told us, from Ya'la ibn Ata', from Jabir ibn Yazid ibn al-Aswad, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed the dawn prayer at Mina, then turned and saw two men behind the people, so he called for them, and they were brought trembling. He said: What prevented you two from praying with the people? They said: We had already prayed in our lodgings. He said: Do not do that; when one of you prays in his lodging, then reaches the prayer with the imam, let him pray it with him, for it will be supererogatory for him.
