حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حِمْيَرٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا كَثِيرٍ الْمُحَارِبِيَّ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ خَرَشَةَ بْنَ الْحُرِّ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ سَتَكُونُ مِنْ بَعْدِي فِتْنَةٌ النَّائِمُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ الْيَقْظَانِ وَالْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ الْقَائِمِ وَالْقَائِمُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ السَّاعِي فَمَنْ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَلْيَمْشِ بِسَيْفِهِ إِلَى صَفَاةٍ فَلْيَضْرِبْهُ حَتَّى يَنْكَسِرَ ثُمَّ لِيَضْطَجِعَ لَهَا حَتَّى تَنْجَلِيَ عَمَّا انْجَلَيَتْ.

Ali ibn Bahr told us, saying: Muhammad ibn Himyar al-Himsi told us, saying: Thabit ibn Ajlan told us, saying: I heard Abu Kathir al-Muharibi say: I heard Kharashah ibn al-Hurr say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "There will be, after me, a trial (fitnah) in which the sleeping one is better than the wakeful one, the sitting one is better than the standing one, and the standing one is better than the one who moves about. So whoever it comes upon, let him go with his sword to a rock and strike it until it breaks, then let him lie down beside it until it clears away as much as it will clear away."
