حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ دَخَلَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ أَمَا خِفْتَ أَنْ أُقْعِدَ لَكَ رَجُلًا فَيَقْتُلَكَ فَقَالَ مَا كُنْتِ لِتَفْعَلِيهِ وَأَنَا فِي بَيْتِ أَمَانٍ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَعْنِي الْإِيمَانُ قَيْدُ الْفَتْكِ كَيْفَ أَنَا فِي الَّذِي بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكِ وَفِي حَوَائِجِكِ قَالَتْ صَالِحٌ قَالَ فَدَعِينَا وَإِيَّاهُمْ حَتَّى نَلْقَى رَبَّنَا عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Affan told us: Hammad ibn Salamah told us, he said: Ali ibn Zayd informed us, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab, that Mu'awiyah entered upon A'ishah, and she said to him: Did you not fear that I would set a man in ambush for you who would kill you? He said: You would not do that, and I am in a house of safety - and I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say - meaning, faith restrains one from assassination - how am I, in what is between me and you, and in your needs? She said: Well. He said: Then let us leave them and us until we meet our Lord, Mighty and Sublime.
