Hujayn ibn al-Muthanna and Yunus told us, they said: al-Layth ibn Sa'd told us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: We set out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in the state of ihram for Hajj alone. Aisha set out in the state of ihram for Umrah, and when she was at Sarif she began menstruating. When we arrived, we circumambulated the Ka'bah and went between Safa and Marwah, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded that whoever did not have a sacrificial animal with him should exit ihram. We said: "Exit to what extent?" He said: "Complete exit." So we had intimate relations with our wives and perfumed ourselves, and there were only four nights between us and Arafah. Then we entered ihram again on the Day of Tarwiyah. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, entered upon Aisha and found her weeping. He said: "What is the matter with you?" She said: "The matter is that I have menstruated, and the people have exited ihram while I have not, and I have not circumambulated the House, and the people are now going for the Hajj." He said: "This is a matter that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has decreed for the daughters of Adam. So perform ghusl, then enter ihram for Hajj." So she did, and she stood at all the standing-places, until, when she became pure, she circumambulated the Ka'bah and went between Safa and Marwah. Then he said: "You have now exited both your Hajj and your Umrah." She said: "O Messenger of Allah, I feel within myself that I did not circumambulate the House until after I performed Hajj." He said: "Then go with her, O Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr, and let her perform Umrah from al-Tan'im." And that was the night of al-Hasbah.
