حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْفَضْلِ وَهُوَ الْحُدَّانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ طَلْقِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ تَكْذِيبًا بِالشَّفَاعَةِ حَتَّى لَقِيتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ كُلَّ آيَةٍ ذَكَرَهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيهَا خُلُودُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَقَالَ يَا طَلْقُ أَتُرَاكَ أَقْرَأَ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ مِنِّي وَأَعْلَمَ بِسُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاتُّضِعْتُ لَهُ فَقُلْتُ لَا وَاللَّهِ بَلْ أَنْتَ أَقْرَأُ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ مِنِّي وَأَعْلَمُ بِسُنَّتِهِ مِنِّي قَالَ فَإِنَّ الَّذِي قَرَأْتَ أَهْلُهَا هُمْ الْمُشْرِكُونَ وَلَكِنْ قَوْمٌ أَصَابُوا ذُنُوبًا فَعُذِّبُوا بِهَا ثُمَّ أُخْرِجُوا صُمَّتَا وَأَهْوَى بِيَدَيْهِ إِلَى أُذُنَيْهِ إِنْ لَمْ أَكُنْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْ النَّارِ وَنَحْنُ نَقْرَأُ مَا تَقْرَأُ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abd al-Samad ibn Abd al-Warith told us, al-Qasim — meaning Ibn al-Fadl, al-Huddani — told us, Sa'id ibn al-Muhallab told us, from Talq ibn Habib, he said: I was among the most severe of people in denying intercession, until I met Jabir ibn Abdullah and recited to him every verse that God, Mighty and Majestic, mentioned regarding the eternal residence of the people of the Fire. He said: "O Talq, do you think you can recite the Book of God better than I, or know the Sunnah of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, better than I?" So I humbled myself to him and said: "No, by God, rather you recite the Book of God better than I and know his Sunnah better than I." He said: "Those verses you recited apply to the polytheists, but there are people who committed sins and were punished for them, then brought out." He put his hand to his ears saying: "May they be deaf if I did not hear the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'They come out of the Fire,' while we recite what you recite."
