Abdullah ibn Bakr told us, Humayd told us, from Anas, who said: Umm Sulaym sent with me a basket containing fresh dates, but I did not find the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in his house — he was with a freedman of his who had prepared for him a dish of bread soaked in broth, or he said a bread-and-broth dish, with meat and gourd. He called me and had me sit with him, and I saw that he liked the gourd, so I began pushing it toward him. When he had finished eating and returned to his house, I placed the basket before him, and he began eating from it and distributing it until he came to the last of it.
