حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سُمَيٍّ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَصُومُ عَبْدٌ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا بَاعَدَ اللَّهُ بِذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ النَّارَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا.

Ibn Numayr told us: Sufyan told us, from Sumayy, from al-Nu'man ibn Abi 'Ayyash al-Zuraqi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of God (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No servant fasts a day in the way of God without God distancing, because of that day, the Fire from his face by seventy autumns."
