حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ مُسْلِمَةٍ تُسَافِرُ مَسِيرَةَ لَيْلَةٍ إِلَّا وَمَعَهَا رَجُلٌ ذُو مَحْرَمٍ مِنْهَا.

Hajjaj told us: Layth told us: Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id told me, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is not lawful for a Muslim woman to travel a distance of one night's journey unless she has with her a man who is a mahram [unmarriageable relative] to her."
