Abu Hurayrah reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade sitting in the roads. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah! It is hard for us to sit [only] in our homes.' He said: 'If you must sit, then give the road its right.' They said: 'What is its right, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Guiding those who ask, returning the greeting of peace, lowering the gaze, enjoining good, and forbidding evil.'
