Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: We went out with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in the year of Hunayn. When we engaged the enemy, the Muslims suffered a setback. He said: I saw a polytheist overpowering a Muslim. He said: I circled around him until I came from behind him and struck him with my sword on his shoulder vein. He turned upon me and squeezed me so hard that I felt the touch of death, then death overtook him and he released me. I met Hadrat Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be well pleased with him) and asked: What is the matter with the people? He said: It is the decree of Allah. Then the people returned and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sat down and stated: 'Whoever killed an enemy and has proof of it, his spoils belong to him.' He said: I stood up and said: Who will testify for me? Then I sat down. He stated the same a second time: 'Whoever killed an enemy and has proof of it, his spoils belong to him.' He said: I stood up again and said: Who will testify for me? Then I sat down. Then he stated it a third time, so I stood up. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'What is the matter with you, O Hadrat Abu Qatadah?' He said: I told him the whole story. A man from the people said: He has spoken the truth, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and the spoils of that slain man are with me, so please compensate him from it. Hadrat Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: By Allah, no! He is one of the lions of Allah who fights for Allah and His Messenger — you shall give him his spoils. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'He has spoken the truth, so give it to him.' Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: He gave it to me, and I sold the armor and bought a garden in Banu Salimah with it, and it was the first property I ever acquired in Islam.
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان فرماتے ہیں: ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ حنین کے سال نکلے۔ جب ہمارا مقابلہ ہوا تو مسلمانوں کو ایک جھٹکا لگا۔ فرمایا: میں نے ایک مشرک کو دیکھا جو ایک مسلمان پر غالب آ رہا تھا۔ فرمایا: میں اس کی طرف گھوم کر اس کے پیچھے سے آیا اور تلوار سے اس کے کندھے کی رگ پر مارا۔ وہ میری طرف پلٹا اور مجھے ایسا بھینچا کہ مجھے موت کی بو آئی، پھر اسے موت نے آ لیا اور اس نے مجھے چھوڑ دیا۔ میں نے حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے ملاقات کی اور کہا: لوگوں کو کیا ہو گیا ہے؟ فرمایا: اللہ کا حکم ہے۔ پھر لوگ لوٹ آئے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف فرما ہوئے اور ارشاد فرمایا: "جس نے کسی دشمن کو قتل کیا اور اس کے پاس اس کی دلیل ہو تو اس کا سامانِ جنگ اسی کا ہے۔" فرمایا: میں کھڑا ہوا اور بولا: میرے لیے کون گواہی دے گا؟ پھر بیٹھ گیا۔ پھر آپ نے دوسری بار ارشاد فرمایا: "جس نے کسی دشمن کو قتل کیا اور اس کے پاس اس کی دلیل ہو تو اس کا سامانِ جنگ اسی کا ہے۔" فرمایا: میں کھڑا ہوا اور بولا: میرے لیے کون گواہی دے گا؟ پھر بیٹھ گیا۔ پھر تیسری بار ارشاد فرمایا تو میں کھڑا ہوا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "تمہیں کیا ہوا ہے اے حضرت ابوقتادہ؟" فرمایا: میں نے آپ کو پوری بات سنائی۔ ایک آدمی نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! اس نے سچ کہا ہے اور اس مقتول کا سامانِ جنگ میرے پاس ہے، آپ اسے اس سے راضی فرما دیجیے۔ حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: ہرگز نہیں! بخدا! یہ اللہ کے شیروں میں سے ایک شیر ہے جو اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی خاطر لڑتا ہے، تم اسے اس کا سامانِ جنگ دے دو۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "سچ کہا، اسے دے دو۔" حضرت ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: اس نے مجھے دے دیا اور میں نے وہ زرہ بیچ کر بنو سلمہ میں ایک باغ خریدا اور یہ میرا اسلام میں سب سے پہلا مال تھا جو میں نے جمع کیا۔
