Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: 'O people, hold fast to obedience and the community, for they are the rope of Allah that He commanded. What you dislike in obedience and community is better than what you love in division. Allah the Almighty has not created anything except that He made a limit for it. Islam has come with firmness, but it will soon reach its peak, then retreat and decline until the Day of Resurrection. The sign of that is that poverty will increase, family ties will be severed, the poor will find no one to help, the rich will see that what he has is not enough, a man will complain to his brother and cousin without receiving anything, and a beggar will walk between two Fridays without anything being placed in his hand. Then the earth will bellow, and the people of every area will think it bellowed in their area. Then it will calm, then the earth will surprise them by vomiting the treasures of its interior.' They asked: 'O Abu Abd al-Rahman, what are the treasures of its interior?' He said: 'Pillars of gold and silver. From that day, neither gold nor silver will be of benefit until the Day of Resurrection.'
