Ibn Mas'ud said: 'O people, learn! For none of you knows when he will be in need of it.' A man came to him and said: 'O Abu Abd al-Rahman, what do you think of a person who reads the Quran backwards?' He said: 'That person has an inverted heart.' Then a Mushaf that had been beautified and gilded was brought to him, and Abdullah said: 'The best adornment for the Mushaf is reciting it in truth.'
