Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:6085 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدُوسِ بْنِ كَامِلٍ السَّرَّاحُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الطُّوسِيُّ ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ قَرْمٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ ذَهَبْتُ أَنَا وَصَاحِبٌ لِي إِلَى سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيِّ فَقَالَ سَلْمَانُ «لَوْلَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَانَا عَنِ التَّكَلُّفِ لَتَكَلَّفْتُ لَكَ ثُمَّ جَاءَ بِخُبْزٍ وَلَحْمٍ» فَقَالَ صَاحِبِي لَوْ كَانَ فِي مِلْحِنَا صَعْتَرٌ فَبَعَثَ سَلْمَانُ بِمَطْهَرَتِهِ فَرَهَنَهَا ثُمَّ جَاءَ بِصَعْتَرٍ فَلَمَّا أَكَلْنَاهُ قَالَ صَاحِبِي الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي مَتَّعَنَا بِمَا رَزَقَنَا فَقَالَ سَلْمَانُ ؓ «لَوْ قَنَعْتَ بِمَا رَزَقَكَ اللهُ لَمْ تَكُنْ مَطْهَرَتِي مَرْهُونَةً»
انگریزی ترجمہ
Shaqiq ibn Salamah said: I and a companion of mine went to Salman al-Farisi. He said: "Were it not that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade us from going to excess, I would have prepared something for you." Then he brought bread and meat. My companion said: "If only there were thyme in our salt." So Salman pawned his water vessel and brought thyme. When we finished eating, my companion said: "Praise be to Allah who has given us enjoyment of what He has provided." Salman said: "If you had been content with what Allah provided, my water vessel would not be pawned."
