Khabbab said: 'I came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) while he was reclining on a cloak in the shade of the Ka'bah, and we had suffered severe hardship from the polytheists. I said: O Messenger of Allah, will you not supplicate to Allah for us? He sat up, angry, with his face reddened, and said: Indeed, those before you - one of them would be asked for a word (of disbelief) and would not give it, so a saw would be placed on his head and he would be split in two, and that would not turn him from his religion. And one of them would be combed through his flesh and sinews to his bones with iron combs, and that would not turn him from his religion. But you are hasty. Allah will complete this matter until a rider travels from San'a to Hadramawt fearing nothing but Allah - and Bayan added: or the wolf for his sheep.'
