Ibn Sirin narrated: Al-Bara' ibn Malik, the brother of Anas ibn Malik, fought in single combat the Marzuban of al-Zarah and killed him, then took his spoils. His spoils amounted to thirty thousand. This reached 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, who said to Abu Talhah: "We never used to take a fifth of the spoils (of single combat), but the spoils of al-Bara' have reached a great amount, so I think we should take a fifth of it."
