عن علي رضي الله عنه قال: كنا في جنازة في بقيع الغرقد فأتانا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقعد، وقعدنا حوله ومعه مخصرة فنكس وجعل ينكت بمخصرته، ثم قال: ما منكم من أحد إلا وقد كتب مقعده من النار ومقعده من الجنة” فقالوا: يا رسول الله أفلا نتكل علي كتابنا؟ فقال: "اعملوا فكل ميسر لما خلق له" وذكر تمام الحديث. ((متفق عليه))
انگریزی ترجمہ
`Hadrat Ali (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported that we were accompanying a funeral procession in Baqi` Al-Gharqad (graveyard in Al-Madinah) when the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) proceeded towards us and sat down. We sat around him. He had a small stick in his hand. He was bending down his head and scraping the ground with the stick. He said, "There is none among you but has a place assigned for him either in the Jannah or in the Hell." The Companions said: "O Beloved Messenger of Allah, should we not depend upon what has been written for us (and give up doing good deeds)?'' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "Carry on doing good deeds. Every one will find it easy to do such deeds (as will lead him to his destined place) for which he has been created." .
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت علی المرتضیٰ کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم فرماتے ہیں: ہم بقیع الغرقد (مدینہ منورہ کے قبرستان) میں ایک جنازے میں شامل تھے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لائے اور بیٹھ گئے، ہم بھی آپ کے گرد بیٹھ گئے۔ آپ کے ہاتھ میں ایک چھڑی تھی، آپ نے سر جھکایا اور چھڑی سے زمین کریدنے لگے، پھر ارشاد فرمایا: 'تم میں سے کوئی نہیں مگر اس کا جہنم میں ٹھکانا اور جنت میں ٹھکانا لکھ دیا گیا ہے۔' صحابہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا ہم اپنی تقدیر پر بھروسہ نہ کر لیں؟ ارشاد فرمایا: 'عمل کرو کیونکہ ہر ایک کو اسی کام کی توفیق دی جاتی ہے جس کے لیے وہ پیدا کیا گیا ہے۔'
