It is narrated from Ma'dan bin Abi Talhah that Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) gave a sermon on Friday and mentioned the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and mentioned Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him). Then he said: "I do not leave behind any matter more important than the matter of kalalah, and I did not ask (the Prophet) about anything as repeatedly as I asked about kalalah, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) was never as stern with me about any matter as he was about the matter of kalalah, to the point that he jabbed his blessed finger into my chest and said: 'O Umar, is not the verse that was revealed in the summer season at the end of Surah an-Nisa sufficient for you?'" Then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "If I live, I will give a ruling concerning kalalah (so clear) that everyone who reads the Quran and everyone who does not will judge according to it." اردو ترجمہ
معدان بن ابی طلحہ سے روایت ہے کہسیدنا عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے جمعہ کے دن خطبہ دیا تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکا ذکر کیا اور سیدنا ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ کا ذکر کیا۔ پھر کہا کہ میں اپنے بعد کوئی ایسا اہم مسئلہ نہیں چھوڑتا جیسے کلالہ کا مسئلہ ہے اور میں نے ایسا مسئلہ باربار نہیں پوچھا جتنا کلالہ کا اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے بھی مجھ سے ایسی سختی کسی بات میں نہیں کی جتنی کلالہ کے مسئلہ میں کی، یہاں تک کہ اپنی انگلی مبارک میرے سینے میں چبھو کر فرمایا:”اے عمر! تجھ کو وہ آیت کافی نہیں ہے جو گرمی کے موسم میں سورۃ نساء کے اخیر میں اتری تھی۔“پھر سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اگر میں زندہ رہا تو کلالہ کے بارے میں ایسا حکم (صاف صاف) دوں گا کہ اس کے موافق ہر شخص فیصلہ کرے جو قرآن پڑھتا ہے اور جو نہیں پڑھتا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 997]
