انگریزی ترجمہ
Narrated the Mother of the Believers 'A'ishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Quraysh used to fast on the day of 'Ashura' (the tenth of Muharram) in the time of ignorance (Jahiliyyah). Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) also commanded fasting on that (day), until when Ramadan was made obligatory, he (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever wishes may fast on that day ('Ashura'), and whoever wishes may break the fast."
اردو ترجمہ
ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہقریش زمانہ جاہلیت میں عاشورے (دس محرم) کے دن روزہ رکھتے تھے پھر رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے بھی اس (دن) کے روزے کا حکم فرمایا، یہاں تک کہ جب رمضان فرض ہوا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ جو چاہے اس دن (عاشورہ) کا روزہ رکھے اور جو چاہے افطار کرے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 611]
