انگریزی ترجمہ
Narrated Abdullah bin Masud (may Allah be pleased with them): I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), "Which deed is the most excellent?" (that is, greatest in reward). He (peace be upon him) said, "Praying the prayer at its (proper) time." I said, "Then which?" He (peace be upon him) said, "Being dutiful to one's parents (that is, keeping them happy and pleased, treating them kindly, and being good to their friends as well)." I said, "Then which?" He (peace be upon him) said, "Striving (jihad) in the way of Allah." Then, out of consideration for the Prophet (peace be upon him), I refrained from asking more (so as not to burden him).
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہمیں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے پوچھا کہ کون سا کام افضل ہے؟ (یعنی ثواب میں سب سے بڑھ کر ہے) آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ نماز اپنے وقت پر پڑھنا۔ میں نے کہا کہ پھر کون سا؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ ماں باپ سے نیکی کرنا (یعنی ان کو خوش اور راضی رکھنا اور ان کے ساتھ احسان کرنا اور ان کے دوستوں کے ساتھ بھی اچھا سلوک کرنا) میں نے کہا کہ پھر کون سا؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد کرنا۔ پھر میں نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی رعایت کر کے زیادہ پوچھنا چھوڑ دیا (تاکہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمپر بار نہ گزرے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 227]
