انگریزی ترجمہ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), regarding this verse — "Do not recite your prayer too loudly nor too softly, but seek a middle course between them" — said: This was revealed in Mecca at a time when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was in hiding in a house out of fear. The situation was that when he (peace be upon him) led the Companions in prayer, he would recite the Qur'an aloud. So when the polytheists heard the voice of the Qur'an, they would revile the Qur'an, the One who revealed it (i.e., Allah), and the one to whom it was revealed (i.e., the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him). Upon this, Allah said to His Prophet (peace be upon him): "Do not recite (the Qur'an) in prayer so loudly" that the polytheists can hear you, "nor recite (the Qur'an) so softly" that your Companions cannot hear you, "but recite (the Qur'an) in a middle voice" — between soft and loud.
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما اسآیت”تم اپنی نماز کو نہ زیادہ اونچی آواز میں پڑھو اور نہ بالکل ہی آہستہ، بلکہ متوسط طریقہ اختیار کرو“کے بارے میں کہتے ہیں کہ یہ مکہ مکرمہ میں اس وقت نازل ہوئی جب کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمخوف کی وجہ سے ایک گھر میں پوشیدہ تھے۔ واقعہ یہ ہے جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمصحابہ کو نماز پڑھاتے تو قرآن بآواز بلند پڑھتے۔ پس جب کہ مشرک قرآن کریم کی آواز سنتے تو قرآن کریم، اس کو نازل کرنے والے (یعنی اللہ تعالیٰ) اور جس پر نازل ہوا (یعنی رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) کو گالیاں دیتے۔ اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے فرمایا کہ”آپ اتنے زور سے نماز (میں قرآن) نہ پڑھیں“کہ جسے مشرک سن سکیں”اور اتنے آہستہ بھی نہ (قرآن) پڑھیں“کہ آپ کے اصحاب بھی نہ سن سکیں”بلکہ درمیانی آواز میں (قرآن) پڑھئے“آہستہ اور اونچی آواز کے درمیان درمیان۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2146]
