Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: When this verse was revealed — "Those who believed and did not mix their faith with wrongdoing (i.e., did not fall into sin), for them is security, and it is they who are rightly guided" — it weighed heavily upon the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). They said: O Messenger of Allah! Which of us is there who does not wrong himself (i.e., does not commit sin)? So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: The meaning of this verse is not what you suppose. Rather, by wrongdoing is meant what Luqman (peace be upon him) said to his son: "O my son, do not associate anything with Allah; indeed, associating (shirk) is a great wrong" (Luqman: 13).
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہجب یہ آیت”جو لوگ ایمان لائے، پھر انہوں نے اپنے ایمان کے ساتھ ظلم نہیں کیا (یعنی گناہ میں نہ پھنسے)، ان کو امن ہے اور وہی راہ پانے والے ہیں“اتری تو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے صحابہ کرام پر بہت مشکل گزری۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یا رسول اللہ! ہم میں سے کون سا ایسا ہے جو اپنے نفس پر ظلم (یعنی گناہ) نہیں کرتا؟ چنانچہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اس آیت کا یہ مطلب نہیں جیسا تم خیال کرتے ہو۔ بلکہ ظلم سے مراد وہ ہے جو لقمان علیہ السلام نے اپنے بیٹے سے کہا تھا کہ”اے میرے بیٹے! اللہ کے ساتھ شرک مت کر، بیشک شرک بڑا ظلم ہے“(لقمان: 13)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2136]
