Narrated Umm al-Mu'minin Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her): The prayer was prescribed as two rak'ahs each, both while resident and while traveling. Then the prayer of travel remained as it was, and the prayer of residence was increased. Zuhri (the narrator) said: I asked Urwah (may Allah be pleased with him): Why did Umm al-Mu'minin Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) pray the full prayer while traveling? (That is, in her view only two rak'ahs were obligatory.) He said: Umm al-Mu'minin Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) interpreted it as Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) had interpreted it (that is, shortening the prayer while traveling is a concession, and praying it in full is permissible).
اردو ترجمہ
ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہنماز حضر میں بھی اور سفر میں بھی دو دو رکعت فرض کی گئی تھی، پھر سفر کی نماز تو ویسی ہی رہی اور حضر کی نماز بڑھا دی گئی۔ زہری (راوی) نے کہا کہ میں نے عروہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا کہ ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا سفر میں پوری نماز کیوں پڑھتی تھیں؟ (یعنی ان کے نزدیک تو دو ہی رکعت فرض تھیں) تب انہوں نے کہا کہ ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے وہی تاویل کی جو سیدنا عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے کی تھی (یعنی سفر میں قصر کرنا رخصت ہے اور پوری پڑھنا جائز ہے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 202]
