Al-Ahnaf ibn Qays said: I set out with the intention of supporting this man (that is, supporting 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, against Mu'awiyah, may Allah be pleased with him). On the way Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) met me and said, "O Ahnaf, where are you going?" I said, "I wish to help the cousin of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)." Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Ahnaf! Go back, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'When two Muslims fight one another with their swords, both the slayer and the slain are in the Fire.'" I said -- or someone else said -- "O Messenger of Allah! The slayer will go to Hell, but why will the slain go?" He (peace be upon him) said, "Because he too intended to kill his companion."
اردو ترجمہ
احنف بن قیس کہتے ہیں کہمیں اس ارادہ سے نکلا کہ اس شخص کا شریک ہوں گا (یعنی سیدنا علی رضی اللہ عنہ کا سیدنا معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے مقابلے میں شریک ہوں گا)۔ راہ میں مجھ سے سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ ملے اور کہنے لگے کہ اے احنف تم کہاں جاتے ہو؟ میں نے کہا کہ میں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے چچازاد بھائی کی مدد کرنا چاہتا ہوں۔ سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اے احنف! تم لوٹ جاؤ، کیونکہ میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے سنا آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمفرماتے تھے کہ جب دو مسلمان اپنی تلوار لے کر لڑیں تو مارنے والا اور مارا جانے والا دونوں جہنمی ہیں۔ میں نے عرض کیا کہ یا کسی اور نے کہا کہ یا رسول اللہ! قاتل تو جہنم میں جائے گا، لیکن مقتول کیوں جائے گا؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ وہ بھی تو اپنے ساتھی کے قتل کا ارادہ رکھتا تھا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2005]
