Narrated Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): It was said to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah, who is the most noble of people?" He (peace be upon him) said, "The one who fears Allah most." They said, "We do not ask about this." He (peace be upon him) said, "Then the most noble of all is Yusuf (peace be upon him), a prophet of Allah, son of a prophet, son of a prophet, son of the Friend of Allah (Khalil Allah, peace be upon him)." They said, "We do not ask about this." He (peace be upon him) said, "Then you ask about the tribes of the Arabs? The best of the Arabs are those who were best in the age of ignorance and are best in the age of Islam, when they gain understanding of the religion." [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1615]
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے کہا گیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! لوگوں میں سب سے بزرگی والا کون ہے؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ جو اللہ تعالیٰ سے زیادہ ڈرتا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم یہ نہیں پوچھتے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ تو سب میں بزرگ سیدنا یوسف علیہ السلام ہیں اللہ کے نبی بن نبی بن نبی اور خلیل اللہ علیہ السلام ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم یہ نہیں پوچھتے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ تم عرب قبیلوں کو پوچھتے ہو؟ تو عرب کے بہتر وہ لوگ ہیں جو زمانہ جاہلیت میں بہتر تھے اور اسلام کے زمانے میں بھی بہتر ہیں، جب وہ دین میں سمجھ حاصل کریں۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1615]
