Abu Ishaq said: He heard al-Bara (may Allah be pleased with him) say concerning this verse, "Those believers who sit at home and those who fight are not equal (that is, the rank of those who fight is very great)," that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ordered Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), so he brought a bone and wrote this verse upon it. Then Abdullah bin Umm Maktum complained of his blindness (that is, 'I am blind, so I cannot go to jihad, and thus my rank will remain lower'). At that, these words were revealed: "Except those who have an excuse" (and the excused will be equal in rank to the warriors). [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1109]
اردو ترجمہ
ابواسحاق کہتے ہیں کہانہوں نے سیدنا براء رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا وہ اس آیت”گھر بیٹھنے والے اور لڑنے والے مسلمان برابر نہیں ہیں (یعنی لڑنے والوں کا درجہ بہت بڑا ہے)“کے بارے میں کہتے تھے کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سیدنا زید کو حکم دیا وہ ایک ہڈی لے کر آئے اور اس پر یہ آیت لکھی۔ تب سیدنا عبداللہ بن ام مکتوم نے اپنی نابینائی کی شکایت کی (یعنی میں اندھا ہوں اس لئے جہاد میں نہیں جا سکتا تو میرا درجہ گھٹا رہے گا) اس وقت یہ الفاظ اترے”وہ لوگ جو معذور نہیں ہیں“(اور معذور تو درجہ میں مجاہدین کے برابر ہوں گے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1109]
