Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him), who is one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), says: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was asked about lost gold or silver (found property), and he said: "Note its tie and its pouch, then announce it publicly among the people for a full year. If no one recognizes it, then spend it, but it remains a trust with you, and after spending it, whenever its owner comes on any day, you must repay it to him." And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was asked about a stray camel, and he said: "What business do you have with it? Its feet are with it, its water-container is with it, it drinks water and eats the leaves of trees, until its owner finds it." And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was asked about a lost sheep, and he said: "Take it, for the sheep is either yours, or your brother's, or the wolf's." اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا زید بن خالد جہنی رضی اللہ عنہ جو کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے اصحاب میں سے ہیں کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے سونا یا چاندی کے لقطہ کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اس کے بندھن اور اس کی تھیلی کی پہچان رکھ، پھر سال بھر تک لوگوں میں مشہور کر، اگر کوئی نہ پہچانے تو اس کو خرچ کر ڈال، لیکن وہ تیرے پاس امانت رہے گا اور صرف کرنے کے بعد جب اس کا مالک کسی دن بھی آئے تو اس کو ادا کرنا ہو گا۔ اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے اس اونٹ کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا جو بھولا بھٹکا ہو، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ تجھے اس سے کیا کام ہے؟ اس کا پاؤں اس کے ساتھ ہے، مشکیزہ ہے، پانی پیتا ہے، درخت کے پتے کھاتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ اس کو اس کا مالک پا لیتا ہے اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے گمشدہ بکری کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اس کو لے لے کیونکہ بکری تیری ہے یا تیرے بھائی کی ہے یا بھیڑئیے کی ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1060]
