Hudhayfah reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Prophethood will remain among you for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it when He wills to lift it. Then there will be a caliphate upon the way of prophethood, which will remain for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it when He wills to lift it. Then there will be biting kingship, which will remain for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it when He wills to lift it. Then there will be tyrannical kingship, which will remain for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it when He wills to lift it. Then there will be a caliphate upon the way of prophethood." Then he was silent. Narrated by Ahmad.
