Hadrat 'Awf ibn Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: We were with the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in one of his expeditions. One night I came and did not find the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in his place. His Companions were as still as if birds were perched on their heads, and the camels had settled down. I looked and saw a figure — it was Hadrat Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be well pleased with him) who came toward me. I asked: "Where is the Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Behind me." Then I saw another figure — it was Abu Musa al-Ash'ari. I asked: "Where is the Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Behind me." Then I heard behind Abu Musa a sound like the humming of a millstone, and there was the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). I submitted: "O Messenger of Allah, when a prophet is in enemy territory, he should have guards." The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "A caller came to me and gave me a choice between half of my Ummah entering Paradise or intercession, and I chose intercession." Mu'adh said: "May my parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, you know my standing, so include me among them." He stated: "You are among them." 'Awf ibn Malik and Abu Musa said: "O Messenger of Allah, you know that we left our wealth, families, and children to believe in Allah and His Messenger, so include us among them." He stated: "You two are among them." When we returned to the people who had risen, the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "A caller came to me from my Lord and gave me a choice between half of my Ummah entering Paradise or intercession, and I chose intercession." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah, include us among them." He stated: "Be quiet." They fell silent as if no one had spoken. Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "It is for whoever dies not associating anything with Allah."
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت عوف بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں: ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ ایک غزوے میں تھے۔ ایک رات میں آیا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو اپنی جگہ نہ پایا۔ صحابہ ایسے ساکت تھے جیسے ان کے سروں پر پرندے بیٹھے ہوں اور اونٹوں نے اپنی گردنیں زمین پر رکھ دی تھیں۔ میں نے دیکھا تو ایک سایہ نظر آیا — وہ حضرت معاذ بن جبل رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ تھے۔ میں نے پوچھا: رسول اللہ کہاں ہیں؟ کہا: میرے پیچھے۔ پھر ایک اور سایہ نظر آیا — وہ ابوموسیٰ اشعری تھے۔ میں نے پوچھا: رسول اللہ کہاں ہیں؟ کہا: میرے پیچھے۔ پھر ابوموسیٰ کے پیچھے چکی کی آواز جیسی گونج سنائی دی، وہاں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تھے۔ میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! جب نبی دشمن کی سرزمین میں ہو تو ان پر پہرہ ہونا چاہیے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: «میرے پاس ایک آنے والا آیا اور مجھے اختیار دیا کہ میری نصف امت جنت میں داخل ہو یا شفاعت، تو میں نے شفاعت کو اختیار کیا۔» معاذ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میرے ماں باپ آپ پر فدا، آپ میرا مقام جانتے ہیں، مجھے ان میں شامل فرمائیں۔ فرمایا: «تم ان میں سے ہو۔» عوف بن مالک اور ابوموسیٰ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! آپ جانتے ہیں کہ ہم نے اپنے مال، اہل اور اولاد چھوڑ کر اللہ اور اس کے رسول پر ایمان لائے، ہمیں بھی ان میں شامل فرمائیں۔ فرمایا: «تم دونوں ان میں سے ہو۔» جب ہم لوگوں کے پاس پہنچے جو جاگ چکے تھے تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «میرے پاس میرے رب کی طرف سے ایک آنے والا آیا اور مجھے اختیار دیا کہ میری نصف امت جنت میں داخل ہو یا شفاعت، تو میں نے شفاعت اختیار کی۔» لوگوں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہمیں بھی ان میں شامل فرمائیں۔ فرمایا: «خاموش ہو جاؤ۔» سب خاموش ہو گئے جیسے کسی نے بات ہی نہ کی ہو۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «یہ (شفاعت) ہر اس شخص کے لیے ہے جو اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ کرتے ہوئے مرے۔»
