Al-Bara' narrated: Abu Bakr bought a saddle from Azib for thirteen dirhams. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Azib: Tell al-Bara' to carry it to my family. Azib said to him: No, not until you tell me how you and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) managed when you left Mecca while the polytheists were searching for you. He said: We set out from Mecca and traveled throughout our night until we came out into the open and the midday heat intensified. I looked around to see if we could find any shade to shelter in, and there was a rock. I went to it and found some remaining shade from it. I leveled it out, then spread [something] for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), then said: Lie down, O Messenger of Allah. So he lay down. Then I went to look around to see if I could see anyone searching, when I saw a shepherd driving his sheep toward the rock, wanting from it what I wanted - meaning shade. I asked him and said: Whose [shepherd] are you, O boy? The boy said: [I belong to] so-and-so, a man from Quraysh - and I recognized him. I said: Is there any milk in your sheep? He said: Yes. I said: Will you milk for me? He said: Yes. So I ordered him, and he held a sheep from his flock, and I ordered him to shake the dust off it, then I ordered him to shake his hands. He said: Like this - and he struck one hand against the other. Then he milked into a handful of milk, and I had brought with me for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) a water skin with a cloth over its mouth. I poured [water] over the milk until its bottom cooled.
