Harun ibn Isa ibn al-Sikkin in the land of Mosul informed us, al-Fadl ibn Musa, the client of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Awn ibn Kahmas narrated to us, my father narrated to me from Abdullah ibn Buraydah from Yahya ibn Ya'mar that he said to Fatimah bint Qays: "Narrate to me something you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and do not narrate to me anything you did not hear from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)." She said: "Yes. The call was made: 'The prayer is congregational,' and the people gathered and became alarmed." She said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ascended the pulpit, praised Allah and extolled Him, and said: 'I have not gathered you out of desire or fear, but a hadith that Tamim al-Dari narrated to me. He claimed that he sailed the sea with thirty men from Lakhm and Judham. The sea - or perhaps he said the waves - played with us for a month, then the ship cast us to an island in the sea. We went out to it and a woman met us dragging her hair, we could not tell if she was coming forward or going backward. We said: "What are you?" She said: "I am al-Jassasah." We said: "Tell us." She said: "Go to the man in the monastery, and he will inform you and inquire of you." We entered upon him and found a man of enormous size, as Allah willed, and he was bound with iron to a rope. We said: "Who are you?" He said: "Inform me about what I ask you." They said: "Ask us." He said: "What has the date-palms of Baysan done? Do they bear fruit?" We said: "Yes." He said: "Soon they will not bear fruit." Then he said: "Tell me about the spring of Zughar. Is there water in it?" We said: "Yes." He said: "Soon there will be no water in it." Then he said: "Tell me about this man, has he appeared?" They said: "Yes." He said: "Indeed, he is truthful, so follow him." We said: "Who are you?" He said: "I am the Dajjal."' Kahmas said: Ibn Buraydah mentioned something I did not memorize, except that he said: 'The earth will be folded for him, and he will come upon all of them in forty mornings.'"
