أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أ��بِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَسُوقُ بَقَرَةً فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَبَهَا فَالْتَفَتَتْ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّا لَمْ نُخْلَقْ لِهَذَا إِنَّمَا خُلِقْنَا لِيُحْرَثَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ مَنْ حَوْلَهُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ ﷺ «آمَنْتُ بِهِ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ» وَمَا هُمَا ثَمَّ قَالَ «وَبَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ فِي غَنَمٍ لَهُ فَأَخَذَ الذِّئْبُ الشَّاةَ فَتَبِعَهُ الرَّاعِي فَلَفَظَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ كَيْفَ لَكَ بِيَوْمِ السِّبَاعِ حَيْثُ لَا يَكُونُ لَهَا رَاعٍ غَيْرِي» فَقَالَ مَنْ حَوْلَهُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ ﷺ » آمَنْتُ بِهِ أَنَا وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ « وَمَا هُمَا ثَمَّ

Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Ma'shar narrated to us: Ahmad ibn Sulayman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us: Abu Dawud al-Hafari narrated to us: Sufyan al-Thawri narrated to us, from Abu al-Zinad, from al-A'raj, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'While a man was driving a cow, he wanted to ride it. It turned to him and said: We were not created for this; we were created only for plowing. Those around him said: Glory be to Allah! The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I believe in it, and so do Abu Bakr and Umar' - though they were not there. He said: 'And while a man was among his sheep, a wolf took a sheep. The shepherd followed it, and the wolf released it and said: How will it be for you on the day of beasts, when there is no shepherd for them but me?' Those around him said: Glory be to Allah! The Prophet ﷺ said: 'I believe in it, and so do Abu Bakr and Umar' - though they were not there.'
