Ahmad bin Ali bin Al-Muthanna narrated to us, saying: Abu Khaythamah narrated to us, saying: Jarir narrated to us from Mansur from Rib'i bin Hirash from Ali, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood for prayer, he said: "I have turned my face to the One who created the heavens and the earth, as a monotheist, and I am not of the polytheists. Indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my life and my death are for Allah, Lord of the worlds, who has no partner. And with that I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims. O Allah, You are the King, there is no god but You. You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself and acknowledged my sin, so forgive me all my sins, for none forgives sins except You. And guide me to the best of character, for none guides to the best of it except You. And turn away from me the worst of it, for none turns away the worst of it except You. Here I am at Your service, blessed and exalted are You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You." When he bowed, he said: "O Allah, to You I have bowed, in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. My hearing, my sight, my brain, my bones, and my sinews are humbled to You." When he raised his head, he said: "O Allah, our Lord, to You is the praise, the fill of the heavens and the earth and the fill of what You will of anything after." When he prostrated, he said: "O Allah, to You I have prostrated, in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. My face has prostrated to the One who created it and fashioned it and opened its hearing and sight. Blessed is Allah, the best of creators." Then the last thing he would say between the tashahhud and the taslim was: "O Allah, forgive me what I have done before and what I will do later, and what I have concealed and what I have done openly, and what You know better than me. You are the One who brings forward and the One who delays. There is no god but You."
