Hadrat Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that Uwaymir al-Ajlani came to Asim ibn Adi — who was the chief of Banu al-Ajlan — and said: "What do you say about a man who finds another man with his wife — should he kill him and you execute him, or what should he do?" He said: "Ask the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) about this for me." So Asim came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, a man finds another man with his wife — should he kill him and you execute him, or what should he do?" The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) disliked the questions and censured them. Then Asim went to Uwaymir and told him that the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) disliked and censured the questions. Uwaymir said: "By Allah, I will not stop until I ask the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) about it." So Uwaymir came and asked him, and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Allah the Exalted and Majestic has revealed (a ruling) regarding you and your wife." Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ordered them and they performed li'an as Allah named in His Book. He performed li'an with her, then said: "O Messenger of Allah, if I keep her, I have wronged her." So he divorced her, and this became the established practice for those after them who perform li'an. Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Watch — if she gives birth to a dark child with deep black eyes, large buttocks, and thick calves, then I think Uwaymir has been truthful about her. And if she gives birth to a reddish child like a lizard, then I think Uwaymir has lied about her." He said: She gave birth to the child matching the description the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) described confirming Uwaymir. He said: And the child was thereafter attributed to his mother.

حضرت سہل بن سعد ساعدی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ عویمر عجلانی عاصم بن عدی کے پاس آئے — جو بنو عجلان کے سردار تھے — اور کہا: تم کیا کہتے ہو ایک آدمی کے بارے میں جو اپنی بیوی کے ساتھ کوئی مرد پائے — کیا وہ اسے قتل کرے اور تم اسے قتل کرو، یا کیا کرے؟ انہوں نے کہا: میری طرف سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے پوچھو۔ عاصم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس آئے اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! آدمی اپنی بیوی کے ساتھ کوئی مرد پائے — اسے قتل کرے تو آپ اسے قتل کریں، یا کیا کرے؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے سوالات کو ناپسند فرمایا۔ پھر عاصم عویمر کے پاس آئے اور بتایا۔ عویمر نے کہا: اللہ کی قسم! میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے خود پوچھوں گا۔ عویمر آئے اور پوچھا تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اللہ عزوجل نے تمہارے اور تمہاری بیوی کے بارے میں نازل فرمایا ہے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے دونوں کو حکم دیا اور انہوں نے لعان کیا جیسا اللہ نے اپنی کتاب میں فرمایا۔ اس نے لعان کیا پھر کہا: یا رسول اللہ! اگر میں اسے رکھوں تو میں نے اس پر ظلم کیا ہے۔ تو اس نے طلاق دے دی اور یہ ان کے بعد متلاعنین کے لیے سنت بن گئی۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: دیکھو، اگر وہ سیاہ فام، بڑی آنکھوں والا، بڑے سرین والا، موٹی پنڈلیوں والا بچہ جنے تو میرا گمان ہے کہ عویمر نے اس پر سچ بولا ہے۔ اور اگر سرخی مائل بچہ جنے جیسے چھپکلی تو میرا گمان ہے عویمر نے اس پر جھوٹ بولا ہے۔ کہتے ہیں: اس نے اس صفت کے مطابق بچہ جنا جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے عویمر کی تصدیق میں بیان فرمائی تھی۔ اور وہ بچہ اپنی ماں کی طرف منسوب ہوا۔
