Ḥadīth | Ibn Ḥibbān (ابن حبّان) ibnhibban:3405 ذِكْرُ الْأَمْرِ بِأَخْذِ مَا أُعْطِيَ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ حُطَامِ هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا الْفَانِيَةِ الزَّائِلَةِ مَا لَمْ تَتَقَدَّمْهُ لَهَا مَسْأَلَةٌ ʿUmar bin al Khattab ؓ appointed me in charge of the zakah, and when had finished with it and handed it over to him, he ordered that I be given some remuneration. I said: I only did it for the sake of Allah and my reward is with Allah. He said: Take what is given to you. I was appointed to do some work at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he gave me some remuneration, and I said the same as you have said, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: ʿIf you are given something without asking for it, then take it and give some in charity.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 371)
انگریزی ترجمہ
Mention of the command to take what a person is given from the ephemeral, perishing rubble of this worldly life, as long as it is not preceded by asking for it. Hadrat 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed me in charge of the zakah, and when I had finished with it and handed it over to him, he ordered that I be given some remuneration. I said: I only did it for the sake of Allah and my reward is with Allah. He said: Take what is given to you. I was appointed to do some work at the time of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and he gave me some remuneration, and I said the same as you have said, but the Beloved Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: «If you are given something without asking for it, then take it and give some in charity.»
اردو ترجمہ
ذکر اس بات کا کہ انسان کو اس دنیا کے فانی اور زائل مال میں سے جو کچھ دیا جائے اسے قبول کرنے کا حکم، جب تک اس سے پہلے اس کے لیے سوال نہ کیا ہو۔ حضرت عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے مجھے زکوٰۃ کی ذمہ داری سونپی، اور جب میں نے اسے مکمل کر کے ان کے حوالے کیا، تو انہوں نے حکم دیا کہ مجھے کچھ معاوضہ دیا جائے۔ میں نے کہا: میں نے یہ صرف اللہ کی خاطر کیا اور میرا اجر اللہ کے پاس ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا: جو تجھے دیا جائے اسے لے لو۔ مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے زمانے میں کچھ کام پر مقرر کیا گیا اور آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے کچھ معاوضہ دیا، اور میں نے وہی کہا جو تم نے کہا ہے، لیکن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھ سے فرمایا: «اگر تمہیں بغیر مانگے کچھ دیا جائے تو اسے لے لو اور کچھ صدقہ کر دو۔»
