أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْقَطَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقْرِئُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو هَانِئٍ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ أَنَّ أَبَا عَلِيٍّ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَالِكٍ الْجَنْبِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ فَضَالَةَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ يَقُولُ سَمِعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَجُلًا يَدْعُو فِي صَلَاتِهِ لَمْ يَحْمَدِ اللَّهَ وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «عَجِلَ هَذَا» ثُمَّ دَعَاهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِتَحْمِيدِ اللَّهِ وَالثَّنَاءِ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ لِيُصَلِّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ لَيَدَعُ بَعْدُ بِمَا شَاءَ»

Abu Ya'la informed us, saying: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Waki' narrated to us from Sufyan from Asim from Salamah ibn Kuhayl from Abd Allah ibn Abi Awfa, who said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when he sat in the prayer, would place his right hand on his right thigh and his left hand on his left thigh, and point with his forefinger thus, and clench his middle finger and thumb.'
