Hadrat Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated via Masruq: Allah will gather people on the Day of Judgment, and a caller will call: O people, are you not content that your Lord Who created you, provided for you, and formed you, should assign each of you to whomever he used to follow in this world? Satan will be made to appear in the likeness of whatever they used to worship — even the tree, the stick, and the stone — and the people of Islam will remain sitting. It will be said to them: What is the matter with you that you do not go as the others go? They will say: We have a Lord Whom we have not yet seen. It will be said: By what will you recognize your Lord if you see Him? They will say: Between us and Him is a sign — if we see Him, we shall recognize Him. It will be said: What is it? They will say: He will uncover a Shin. Then a Shin will be uncovered, and all who used to prostrate willingly will fall in prostration, while a group whose backs will be like the horns of cattle will try to prostrate but will be unable. Then they will be ordered to raise their heads, and they will be given their light according to their deeds. Among them is one whose light is like a mountain before him, and some whose light is greater than that, and some whose light is like a date palm in his right hand, and some less — until the last is one whose light is on his big toe, shining sometimes and going out sometimes. When it shines, he moves forward, and when it goes out, he stops. They pass over the Sirat — and the Sirat is like the edge of a sword, slippery — and it is said: Be saved according to your light. Among them are those who pass like a shooting star, some like a glance of the eye, some like the wind, some like a man running. The one whose light is on his big toe drags one hand and hangs the other, drags one leg and hangs the other, while the Fire strikes his sides. When they are saved, they say: All praise to Allah Who saved us from you, after having shown us you. Allah has given us what He has not given anyone. Masruq said: Whenever Abdullah reached this point in the hadith, he would laugh. A man said: O Abu Abdur-Rahman, you have narrated this hadith many times, and each time you reach this point, you laugh. Abdullah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) narrate it many times, and each time he reached this point, he would laugh until his molars were visible — because the person says: Do You mock me while You are the Lord of the Worlds? He says: No, but I am capable of that. So ask Me. This hadith is sound upon the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and they did not record it with this wording.
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے مسروق کے ذریعے روایت ہے: اللہ تعالیٰ قیامت کے دن لوگوں کو جمع کرے گا۔ ایک منادی پکارے گا: اے لوگو! کیا تم اس بات پر راضی نہیں کہ تمہارا رب جس نے تمہیں پیدا کیا، رزق دیا اور صورت بنائی، تم میں سے ہر ایک کو اس کے حوالے کر دے جس کی وہ دنیا میں پیروی کرتا تھا؟ جو عزیر کی عبادت کرتے تھے ان کے لیے عزیر کا شیطان پیش کیا جائے گا حتیٰ کہ درخت، لکڑی اور پتھر بھی — اور اہل اسلام بیٹھے رہیں گے۔ ان سے کہا جائے گا: تمہیں کیا ہوا کہ تم نہیں چلتے جیسے لوگ چلتے ہیں؟ وہ کہیں گے: ہمارا ایک رب ہے جسے ہم نے ابھی نہیں دیکھا۔ کہا جائے گا: اگر تم اسے دیکھو تو اسے کیسے پہچانو گے؟ وہ کہیں گے: ہمارے اور اس کے درمیان ایک نشانی ہے — اگر ہم اسے دیکھیں تو پہچان لیں گے۔ کہا جائے گا: وہ کیا ہے؟ کہیں گے: وہ پنڈلی کھولے گا۔ پھر پنڈلی کھولی جائے گی اور جو لوگ اخلاص سے سجدہ کرتے تھے وہ سجدے میں گر جائیں گے اور ایک گروہ جن کی پیٹھیں بیلوں کے سینگوں کی طرح ہوں گی، سجدہ کرنا چاہیں گے لیکن نہیں کر سکیں گے۔ پھر انہیں سر اٹھانے کا حکم دیا جائے گا اور انہیں ان کے اعمال کے مطابق نور دیا جائے گا۔ ان میں سے کسی کو پہاڑ جتنا نور ملے گا، کسی کو اس سے زیادہ، کسی کو دائیں ہاتھ میں کھجور کے درخت جتنا، کسی کو اس سے کم — یہاں تک کہ آخری شخص کو پاؤں کے انگوٹھے پر نور ملے گا جو کبھی چمکے گا کبھی بجھے گا۔ جب چمکے تو آگے بڑھے جب بجھے تو رک جائے۔ پل صراط تلوار کی دھار کی طرح پھسلنے والا ہے۔ کہا جائے گا: اپنے نور کے مطابق بچ کر نکلو۔ کچھ ٹوٹتے ستارے کی طرح گزریں گے، کچھ پلک جھپکنے کی طرح، کچھ ہوا کی طرح، کچھ آدمی کی دوڑ کی طرح۔ جس کا نور انگوٹھے پر ہوگا وہ ایک ہاتھ گھسیٹے گا دوسرا لٹکائے گا، ایک ٹانگ گھسیٹے گا دوسری لٹکائے گا اور آگ اس کے پہلوؤں کو مارے گی۔ جب بچ نکلیں گے تو کہیں گے: الحمد للہ جس نے ہمیں تجھ سے بچایا اس کے بعد کہ ہمیں تجھے دکھایا۔ اللہ نے ہمیں وہ دیا جو کسی کو نہیں دیا۔ مسروق نے کہا: جب حضرت عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ حدیث کے اس مقام پر پہنچتے تو ہنس دیتے۔ ایک شخص نے کہا: اے ابو عبدالرحمٰن! آپ نے یہ حدیث کئی بار بیان کی ہے اور جب بھی اس مقام پر پہنچتے ہیں ہنس دیتے ہیں۔ حضرت عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: میں نے حضور صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو یہ حدیث کئی بار بیان کرتے سنا اور جب بھی اس مقام پر پہنچتے تو ہنستے حتیٰ کہ آپ کی داڑھیں اور آخری دانت نظر آتے — جب انسان کہتا ہے: کیا تو مجھ سے مذاق کرتا ہے جبکہ تو رب العالمین ہے؟ فرماتا ہے: نہیں لیکن میں اس پر قادر ہوں، مجھ سے مانگو۔ یہ حدیث بخاری و مسلم کی شرط پر صحیح ہے اور انہوں نے اسے ان الفاظ کے ساتھ روایت نہیں کیا۔
