Narrated Aisha as-Siddiqah, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her): After the command of hijab (veiling) was revealed, Sawdah, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her), went out (covered with a wrap and so on) to relieve herself. She was a heavily built woman, and anyone who had known her before would still recognize her. Now Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw her and said, "O Sawdah! By Allah, you are still not hidden from us; do consider in what condition you have gone out." Hearing this, she returned, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was eating his evening meal in my house, with a bone in his hand. She came in and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I had gone out for a need, but Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said such-and-such to me." (Aisha as-Siddiqah, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her),) says: At that moment revelation began to come, then the state of revelation ceased, and the bone was still in his hand; he (peace be upon him) had not set it down from his hand. Then he (peace be upon him) said, "Indeed, permission has been given to you (women) to go out for your needs (for tasks)."
اردو ترجمہ
ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہپردہ کا حکم اترنے کے بعد ام المؤمنین سودہ رضی اللہ عنہا (چادر وغیرہ اوڑھ کر) حاجت کے لیے باہر نکلیں، وہ بھاری جسامت کی عورت تھیں، جو کوئی انھیں پہلے سے پہچانتا ہوتا وہ اب بھی پہچان لیتا تھا۔ خیر سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کو دیکھ لیا اور کہا کہ اے سودہ! واللہ! تم تو اب بھی ہم سے چھپی ہوئی نہیں ہو، ذرا دیکھ لو کیسی حالت میں تم باہر نکلی ہو۔ یہ سن کر وہ لوٹ آئیں اور رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلممیرے گھر میں رات کا کھانا کھا رہے تھے اور ہاتھ میں ہڈی تھی۔ پس وہ اندر آئیں اور کہنے لگیں کہ یا رسول اللہ! میں ضرورت سے باہر نکلی تھی لیکن عمر (رضی اللہ عنہ) نے ایسی ایسی گفتگو کی (ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا) کہتی ہیں کہ اسی وقت وحی آنا شروع ہوئی، پھر وحی کی حالت موقوف ہو گئی اور ہڈی آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ہاتھ میں ہی تھی، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس کو ہاتھ سے رکھا نہیں تھا، پس آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”بیشک تم (عورتوں) کو ضرورت سے (کام کاج کے لیے) باہر نکلنے کی اجازت دی گئی ہے۔“[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1763]
