Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): This verse was revealed when the Prophet (peace be upon him) was hiding in Makkah for fear (of the disbelievers). When he (peace be upon him) led his Companions in prayer, he would recite the Qur'an aloud, and when the polytheists heard it, they would revile the Qur'an, the One who revealed it, and the one who brought it. At that time Allah the Exalted commanded His Prophet (peace be upon him): "Do not recite your prayer too loudly," that is, do not recite (the Qur'an) so loudly that the polytheists hear and revile it, "nor too softly," that even your Companions (those praying behind you) cannot hear, "but seek a way between that." (that is, recite in a moderate voice) (al-Isra: 110).
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہایہ آیت اس وقت نازل ہوئی جب نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلممکہ میں (کافروں کے) خوف سے پوشیدہ تھے، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمجب اپنے اصحاب کو نماز پڑھاتے تو بلند آواز سے قرآن پڑھتے تو جب مشرک لوگ اس کو سنتے تو قرآن کو اور اس کو نازل کرنے والے اور جو اسے لے کر آیا، سب کو برا کہتے۔ اس وقت اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے نبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو یہ حکم دیا کہ”تو اپنی نماز بہت بلند آواز سے نہ پڑھ“یعنی (قرآن) ایسی آواز سے نہ پڑھو جو مشرک لوگ سن کر برا کہیں ’ ’ اور نہ بالکل ہی آہستہ“کہ تیرے اصحاب (مقتدی) بھی نہ سن سکیں”بلکہ اس کے درمیان کا راستہ تلاش کر لے۔“(یعنی درمیانی آواز سے پڑھا کرو)۔ (الاسراء: 110)[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 1753]
