Hadrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be well pleased with them both) says: 'The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went out on the day of Eid al-Fitr and began with the prayer before the sermon.' Ata' (upon him be mercy) narrated that Hadrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be well pleased with them both) sent a message to Ibn al-Zubair (may Allah be well pleased with them both) when he first received allegiance, saying: There was no Adhan for the prayer on the day of Eid al-Fitr; the sermon was only after the prayer. Ata' narrated from Hadrat Ibn Abbas and Hadrat Jabir (may Allah be well pleased with them): There was no Adhan on the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha. Hadrat Jabir says: 'The Noble the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood and began with the prayer, then addressed the people. When he finished, he came down and went to the women, admonishing them — he was leaning on the hand of Hadrat Bilal (may Allah be well pleased with him), and Hadrat Bilal had spread out his cloth in which the women were placing their charity.' I asked Ata': 'Do you consider it obligatory upon the Imam now to go to the women after finishing and admonish them?' He said: 'Indeed, it is incumbent upon them, and what excuse do they have not to do so?'

حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما فرماتے ہیں: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم عیدالفطر کے دن باہر تشریف لائے اور خطبے سے پہلے نماز سے آغاز فرمایا۔ عطاء رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ نے بیان کیا کہ حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے ابن حضرت زبیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کو جب پہلی بیعت ہوئی تو پیغام بھیجا کہ عیدالفطر کے دن نماز کے لیے اذان نہیں ہوتی تھی، خطبہ صرف نماز کے بعد ہوتا تھا۔ عطاء نے حضرت ابن عباس اور حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہم سے بیان کیا: عیدالفطر اور عیدالاضحیٰ میں اذان نہیں ہوتی تھی۔ حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے اور نماز سے آغاز فرمایا، پھر لوگوں کو خطبہ دیا۔ جب فارغ ہوئے تو اتر کر عورتوں کے پاس تشریف لے گئے اور انہیں نصیحت فرمائی — آپ حضرت بلال رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے ہاتھ پر ٹیک لگائے ہوئے تھے اور حضرت بلال اپنا کپڑا پھیلائے ہوئے تھے جس میں عورتیں صدقہ ڈال رہی تھیں۔ میں نے عطاء سے پوچھا: کیا آپ سمجھتے ہیں کہ اب بھی امام پر لازم ہے کہ فارغ ہو کر عورتوں کے پاس جائے اور انہیں نصیحت کرے؟ فرمایا: بلاشبہ یہ ان پر لازم ہے اور ان کے لیے کیا عذر ہے کہ نہ کریں۔
