Narrated Hadrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be well pleased with him): By Allah, besides Whom there is no deity, I used to press my liver against the ground due to hunger, and I used to tie a stone on my belly because of hunger. One day, I sat on their path from where they used to come out. Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) passed by, and I asked him about a verse from the Book of Allah — I only asked him so that he might feed me — but he passed on without doing so. Then 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) passed by, and I asked him about a verse from the Book of Allah — I only asked him so that he might feed me — but he passed on without doing so. Then Abul-Qasim (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) passed by me. He smiled when he saw me and recognized what was in my heart and on my face. Then he stated, "O Abu Hirr!" I submitted, "At your service, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)!" He stated, "Follow me." He went on, and I followed him. He entered (his house) and I sought permission, which he granted me. He found milk in a bowl and asked, "Where has this milk come from?" They said, "So-and-so sent it as a gift to you." He stated, "O Abu Hirr!" I submitted, "At your service, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)!" He stated, "Go to the people of the Suffa and invite them for me." The people of the Suffa were the guests of Islam; they had no family, wealth, or anyone to rely on. When charity came to him, he would send it all to them without taking anything from it, and when a gift came, he would send some to them and partake of it, sharing it with them. This grieved me, and I thought: What will this milk amount to among the people of the Suffa? I was more deserving of a sip of this milk to strengthen myself. When they come, he will order me to distribute it, and how much will reach me from this milk? But there was no option but to obey Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). So I went and invited them, and they came, sought permission, and were admitted, taking their seats in the house. He stated, "O Abu Hirr!" I submitted, "At your service, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)!" He stated, "Take it and give it to them." I took the bowl and began giving it to each man. He would drink until satisfied, then return the bowl to me. I would give it to another who would drink until satisfied, then return it. This continued until I reached the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and all the people had drunk their fill. He took the bowl, placed it on his hand, looked at me, smiled, and stated, "O Abu Hirr!" I submitted, "At your service, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)!" He stated, "Now only you and I remain." I submitted, "You have spoken the truth, O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)!" He stated, "Sit down and drink." I sat down and drank. He stated, "Drink more." I drank. He kept saying, "Drink," until I said, "By the One Who sent you with the truth, I have no more room for it." He stated, "Then show it to me." I gave him the bowl, and he praised Allah, said Bismillah, and drank what remained.

مجھ سے حضرت ابونعیم نے اس حدیث کے تقریباً آدھے حصے کے ساتھ بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عمر بن ذر نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے مجاہد نے بیان کیا کہ حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرمایا کرتے تھے: اللہ کی قسم جس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں! میں بھوک سے اپنا جگر زمین پر رکھ دیتا تھا اور بھوک سے اپنے پیٹ پر پتھر باندھ لیتا تھا۔ ایک دن میں ان کے راستے پر بیٹھ گیا جہاں سے وہ نکلا کرتے تھے۔ حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ گزرے تو میں نے ان سے کتاب اللہ کی ایک آیت کے بارے میں پوچھا اور میں نے صرف اس لیے پوچھا تھا کہ وہ مجھے پیٹ بھر کر کھلائیں لیکن وہ آگے گزر گئے اور ایسا نہیں کیا۔ پھر حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ گزرے تو میں نے ان سے کتاب اللہ کی ایک آیت کے بارے میں پوچھا اور صرف اس لیے پوچھا تھا کہ وہ مجھے پیٹ بھر کر کھلائیں لیکن وہ بھی آگے گزر گئے اور ایسا نہیں کیا۔ پھر ابوالقاسم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم میرے پاس سے گزرے۔ آپ نے مجھے دیکھ کر تبسم فرمایا اور پہچان لیا کہ میرے دل اور چہرے پر کیا ہے۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: ابا ہر! میں نے عرض کیا: لبیک یا رسول اللہ! ارشاد فرمایا: ساتھ آؤ۔ آپ آگے بڑھے اور میں آپ کے پیچھے چلا۔ آپ اندر تشریف لے گئے اور میں نے اجازت مانگی تو آپ نے اجازت دے دی۔ اندر پیالے میں دودھ پایا تو ارشاد فرمایا: یہ دودھ کہاں سے آیا؟ عرض کیا: فلاں نے آپ کو ہدیہ بھیجا ہے۔ ارشاد فرمایا: ابا ہر! میں نے عرض کیا: لبیک یا رسول اللہ! ارشاد فرمایا: اہل صفہ کے پاس جاؤ اور انہیں میرے پاس بلا لاؤ۔ اہل صفہ اسلام کے مہمان تھے، نہ ان کے اہل خانہ تھے نہ مال اور نہ کوئی سہارا۔ جب آپ کے پاس صدقہ آتا تو انہیں بھیج دیتے اور خود کچھ نہ لیتے اور جب ہدیہ آتا تو انہیں بھی بھیجتے اور خود بھی لیتے اور انہیں بھی شریک فرماتے۔ مجھے بُرا لگا اور میں نے (دل میں) سوچا: اہل صفہ میں یہ دودھ کیا ہے، میں زیادہ حقدار تھا کہ اس دودھ سے ایک گھونٹ پی کر طاقت حاصل کرتا۔ جب وہ آئیں گے تو آپ مجھے حکم دیں گے کہ میں ہی انہیں دوں، اور اس دودھ سے مجھ تک کتنا پہنچے گا۔ لیکن اللہ اور اس کے رسول صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی اطاعت کے سوا چارہ نہیں تھا۔ میں ان کے پاس گیا اور انہیں بلایا۔ وہ آئے، اجازت مانگی تو آپ نے اجازت دے دی اور انہوں نے گھر میں اپنی جگہیں لے لیں۔ ارشاد فرمایا: ابا ہر! میں نے عرض کیا: لبیک یا رسول اللہ! ارشاد فرمایا: لو اور انہیں دو۔ میں نے پیالہ لیا اور ایک ایک شخص کو دینے لگا۔ وہ پیتا یہاں تک کہ سیراب ہو جاتا پھر مجھے لوٹا دیتا۔ میں دوسرے کو دیتا وہ بھی پی کر سیراب ہو جاتا پھر مجھے لوٹا دیتا۔ یہاں تک کہ سب سیراب ہو گئے اور میں نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تک پہنچا۔ آپ نے پیالہ لے کر اپنے ہاتھ پر رکھا، مجھے دیکھا اور تبسم فرمایا اور ارشاد فرمایا: ابا ہر! میں نے عرض کیا: لبیک یا رسول اللہ! ارشاد فرمایا: اب میں اور تم باقی ہیں۔ میں نے عرض کیا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا یا رسول اللہ! ارشاد فرمایا: بیٹھو اور پیو۔ میں بیٹھا اور پیا۔ ارشاد فرمایا: اور پیو۔ میں نے پیا۔ آپ فرماتے رہے: اور پیو، یہاں تک کہ میں نے عرض کیا: قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس نے آپ کو حق کے ساتھ بھیجا! اب جگہ نہیں ملتی۔ ارشاد فرمایا: تو مجھے دکھاؤ۔ میں نے پیالہ آپ کو دے دیا۔ آپ نے اللہ کی حمد بیان کی، بسم اللہ کہا اور باقی بچا ہوا دودھ پی لیا۔
