It is narrated by Hadrat Anas that `Abdullah bin Salam heard the news of the arrival of Allah's Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) (at Medina) while he was on a farm collecting its fruits. So he came to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said, "I will ask you about three things which nobody knows unless he be a prophet. Firstly, what is the first portent of the Hour? What is the first meal of the people of Paradise? And what makes a baby look like its father or mother?'. the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "Just now Gabriel has informed me about that." `Hadrat Abdullah said, "Gabriel?" the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "Yes." `Hadrat Abdullah said, "He, among the angels is the enemy of the Jews." On that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) recited this Holy Verse:-- "Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel (let him die in his fury!) for he has brought it (i.e. Qur'an) down to your heart by Allah's permission." (2.97) Then he added, "As for the first portent of the Hour, it will be a fire that will collect the people from the East to West. And as for the first meal of the people of Paradise, it will be the caudate (i.e. extra) lobe of the fish liver. And if a man's discharge preceded that of the woman, then the child resembles the father, and if the woman's discharge preceded that of the man, then the child resembles the mother." On hearing that, `Hadrat Abdullah said, "I testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that you are the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). O Allah's Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him); the Jews are liars, and if they should come to know that I have embraced Islam, they would accuse me of being a liar." In the meantime some Jews came (to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)) and he asked them, "What is `Hadrat Abdullah's status amongst you?" They replied, "He is the best amongst us, and he is our chief and the son of our chief." the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "What would you think if `Abdullah bin Salam embraced Islam?" They replied, "May Allah protect him from this!" Then `Hadrat Abdullah came out and said, "I testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)." The Jews then said, "Hadrat Abdullah is the worst of us and the son of the worst of us," and disparaged him. On that `Hadrat Abdullah said, "O Allah's Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! This is what I was afraid of

ہم سے عبداللہ بن منیر نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے عبداللہ بن بکر سے سنا، اس نے کہا کہ مجھ سے حمید نے اور ان سے انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ جب عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ( جو یہود کے بڑے عالم تھے ) نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی ( مدینہ ) تشریف لانے کی خبر سنی تو وہ اپنے باغ میں پھل توڑ رہے تھے۔ وہ اسی وقت نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور عرض کیا کہ میں آپ سے ایسی تین چیزوں کے متعلق پوچھتا ہوں، جنہیں نبی کے سوا اور کوئی نہیں جانتا۔ بتلائیے! قیامت کی نشانیوں میں سب سے پہلی نشانی کیا ہے؟ اہل جنت کی دعوت کے لیے سب سے پہلے کیا چیز پیش کی جائے گی؟ بچہ کب اپنے باپ کی صورت میں ہو گا اور کب اپنی ماں کی صورت پر؟ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ مجھے ابھی جبرائیل نے آ کر ان کے متعلق بتایا ہے۔ عبداللہ بن سلام بولے جبرائیل علیہ السلام نے! فرمایا: ہاں، عبداللہ بن سلام نے کہا کہ وہ تو یہودیوں کے دشمن ہیں۔ اس پر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے یہ آیت تلاوت کی «من كان عدوا لجبريل فإنه نزله على قلبك» اور ان کے سوالات کے جواب میں فرمایا، قیامت کی سب سے پہلی نشانی ایک آگ ہو گی جو انسانوں کو مشرق سے مغرب کی طرف جمع کر لائے گی۔ اہل جنت کی دعوت میں جو کھانا سب سے پہلے پیش کیا جائے گا وہ مچھلی کے جگر کا بڑھا ہوا حصہ ہو گا اور جب مرد کا پانی عورت کے پانی پر غلبہ کر جاتا ہے تو بچہ باپ کی شکل پر ہوتا ہے اور جب عورت کا پانی مرد کے پانی پر غلبہ کر جاتا ہے تو بچہ ماں کی شکل پر ہوتا ہے۔ عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بول اٹھے «أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأشهد أنك رسول الله.» ”میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ آپ اللہ کے رسول ہیں۔“ ( پھر عرض کیا ) یا رسول اللہ! یہودی بڑی بہتان باز قوم ہے، اگر اس سے پہلے کہ آپ میرے متعلق ان سے کچھ پوچھیں، انہیں میرے اسلام کا پتہ چل گیا تو مجھ پر بہتان تراشیاں شروع کر دیں گے۔ بعد میں جب یہودی آئے تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا کہ عبداللہ تمہارے یہاں کیسے آدمی سمجھے جاتے ہیں؟ وہ کہنے لگے، ہم میں سب سے بہتر اور ہم میں سب سے بہتر کے بیٹے! ہمارے سردار اور ہمارے سردار کے بیٹے ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ اگر وہ اسلام لے آئیں پھر تمہارا کیا خیال ہو گا؟ کہنے لگے، اللہ تعالیٰ اس سے انہیں پناہ میں رکھے۔ اتنے میں عبداللہ بن سلام رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ظاہر ہو کر کہا «أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأن محمدا رسول الله.» کہ ”میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا اور کوئی معبود نہیں اور گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ محمد اللہ کے سچے رسول ہیں۔“ اب وہی یہودی ان کے بارے میں کہنے لگے کہ یہ ہم میں سب سے بدتر ہے اور سب سے بدتر شخص کا بیٹا ہے اور ان کی توہین شروع کر دی۔ عبداللہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے کہا: یا رسول اللہ! یہی وہ چیز تھی جس سے میں ڈرتا تھا۔
