Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates from Hadrat Abu Hadrat Talhah (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ordered on the day of Badr regarding twenty-four chiefs of the Quraysh, and they were cast into one of the foul wells of Badr. It was his blessed practice that whenever he was victorious over a people, he would stay at the battlefield for three nights. On the third day at Badr, the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ordered his mount to be prepared. Then he walked and his Companions followed him, saying, 'We think he is going for some purpose.' He stood at the edge of the well and began calling them by their names and their fathers' names: 'O so-and-so, son of so-and-so! Would it not have pleased you had you obeyed Allah and His Messenger? We have found what our Lord promised us to be true. Have you found what your Lord promised you to be true?' Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) submitted, 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! You are speaking to bodies that have no souls.' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared, 'By the One in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad! You do not hear what I am saying any better than they do.' Qatadah (upon him be mercy) stated, 'Allah brought them back to life so they could hear his words as rebuke, humiliation, grief, and remorse.'
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ، حضرت ابوطلحہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے بدر کے دن قریش کے چوبیس سرداروں کا حکم فرمایا تو انہیں بدر کے ایک گندے کنویں میں ڈال دیا گیا۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا دستور تھا کہ جب کسی قوم پر غالب آتے تو تین رات اس مقام پر قیام فرماتے۔ جب بدر میں تیسرا دن ہوا تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اپنی سواری تیار کرنے کا حکم فرمایا۔ پھر پیدل چلے اور صحابہ کرام بھی پیچھے چلے اور فرمایا: ہمیں لگتا ہے کہ آپ کسی کام سے تشریف لے جا رہے ہیں۔ یہاں تک کہ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کنویں کے کنارے پر کھڑے ہوئے اور ان (مقتولین) کو ان کے ناموں اور ان کے باپوں کے ناموں سے پکارنے لگے: اے فلاں بن فلاں! اے فلاں بن فلاں! کیا تمہیں خوشی نہ ہوتی اگر تم اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی اطاعت کرتے؟ ہم نے تو اپنے رب کا وعدہ سچا پایا، کیا تم نے بھی اپنے رب کا وعدہ سچا پایا؟ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! آپ ایسے جسموں سے کلام فرما رہے ہیں جن میں روحیں نہیں ہیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اس ذات کی قسم جس کے دست قدرت میں محمد کی جان ہے! تم ان سے زیادہ میری بات نہیں سن سکتے جو میں کہہ رہا ہوں۔ قتادہ رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ فرماتے ہیں: اللہ تعالیٰ نے انہیں زندہ کیا تاکہ وہ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بات سنیں بطور ملامت، ذلت، حسرت اور ندامت۔
