It is narrated by Hadrat Sahl bin Sa`d that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "Tomorrow I will give the flag to a man with whose leadership Allah will grant (the Muslims) victory." So the people kept on thinking the whole night as to who would be given the flag. The next morning the people went to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and every one of them hoped that he would be given the flag. the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "Where is `Hadrat Ali bin Abi Talib?" The people replied, "He is suffering from eye trouble, O the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ." He said, "Send for him and bring him to me." So when `Ali came, the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) spat in his eyes and invoked good on him, and he became alright as if he had no ailment. the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) then gave him the flag. `Hadrat Ali said, "O the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ! Shall I fight them (i.e. enemy) till they become like us?" the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "Proceed to them steadily till you approach near to them and then invite them to Islam and inform them of their duties towards Allah which Islam prescribes for them, for by Allah, if one man is guided on the right path (i.e. converted to Islam) through you, it would be better for you than (a great number of) red camels
اردو ترجمہ
ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبدالعزیز نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوحازم نے اور ان سے حضرت سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جنگ خیبر کے موقع پر بیان فرمایا کہ کل میں ایک ایسے شخص کو اسلامی عَلم دوں گا جس کے ہاتھ پر اللہ تعالیٰ فتح عنایت فرمائے گا، راوی نے بیان کیا کہ رات کو لوگ یہ سوچتے رہے کہ دیکھئیے عَلم کسے ملتا ہے، جب صبح ہوئی تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں سب حضرات ( جو سرکردہ تھے ) حاضر ہوئے، سب کو امید تھی کہ عَلم انہیں ہی ملے گا، لیکن آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا، علی بن ابی طالب کہاں ہیں؟ لوگوں نے بتایا کہ ان کی آنکھوں میں درد ہے، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ پھر ان کے یہاں کسی کو بھیج کر بلوا لو، جب وہ آئے تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان کی آنکھ میں اپنا تھوک ڈالا اور ان کے لیے دعا فرمائی، اس سے انہیں ایسی شفاء حاصل ہوئی جیسے کوئی مرض پہلے تھا ہی نہیں، چنانچہ آپ نے عَلم انہیں کو عنایت فرمایا۔ حضرت علی المرتضیٰ کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! میں ان سے اتنا لڑوں گا کہ وہ ہمارے جیسے ہو جائیں ( یعنی مسلمان بن جائیں ) آپ نے فرمایا: ابھی یوں ہی چلتے رہو، جب ان کے میدان میں اترو تو پہلے انہیں اسلام کی دعوت دو اور انہیں بتاؤ کہ اللہ کے ان پر کیا حقوق واجب ہیں، اللہ کی قسم اگر تمہارے ذریعہ اللہ تعالیٰ ایک شخص کو بھی ہدایت دیدے تو وہ تمہارے لیے سرخ اونٹوں ( کی دولت ) سے بہتر ہے۔
