It is narrated by Hadrat Sahl bin Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be well pleased with him) who states: I saw Marwan bin al-Hakam sitting in the mosque. I came and sat beside him. He informed us that Hadrat Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be well pleased with him) told him that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) dictated to him: {The believers who sit back are not equal to those who strive in the path of Allah}. He said: While the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was dictating this to me, Hadrat Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be well pleased with him) came and submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! If I were able to fight, I would surely fight — and he was a blind man. Then Allah the Blessed and Exalted revealed to His Messenger (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) while his blessed thigh was upon my thigh, and it became so heavy upon me that I feared it would crush my thigh. Then the state of revelation was lifted from him, and Allah the Mighty and Majestic revealed: {other than those with a valid excuse}.
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت سہل بن سعد ساعدی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، فرماتے ہیں: میں نے مروان بن حکم کو مسجد میں بیٹھے دیکھا، میں آ کر ان کے پہلو میں بیٹھ گیا۔ انہوں نے ہمیں بتایا کہ حضرت زید بن ثابت رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ان سے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے یہ آیت لکھوائی: {لاَ يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ}۔ فرمایا: ابھی آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مجھے یہ آیت لکھوا رہے تھے کہ حضرت ابن اُمّ مکتوم رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ تشریف لائے اور عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! اگر مجھ میں جہاد کی طاقت ہوتی تو ضرور جہاد کرتا — اور وہ نابینا تھے۔ پس اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ نے اپنے رسول صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پر وحی نازل فرمائی اور آپ کی رانِ مبارک میری ران پر تھی، مجھ پر اتنا بوجھ ہوا کہ مجھے ڈر ہوا کہ کہیں میری ران ٹوٹ نہ جائے۔ پھر آپ سے وحی کی حالت ختم ہوئی تو اللہ عزوجل نے نازل فرمایا: {غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ} (معذور لوگوں کے سوا)۔
