Narrated by Hadrat ' Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him): We used to say greetings in the prayer, mentioning names and greeting one another. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) heard it and stated, 'Say: "At-Tahiyyatu lillahi was-Salawatu wat-Tayyibat. As-Salamu 'alaika ayyuhan-Nabiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. As-Salamu 'alaina wa 'ala 'ibadillahis-Salihin. Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallahu wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa Rasuluh" (All verbal, physical and monetary acts of worship are for Allah. Peace be upon you, O the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger). For when you say this, you have indeed sent greetings to every righteous servant of Allah in the heavens and the earth.'
اردو ترجمہ
ہم سے عمرو بن عیسیٰ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ابو عبدالصمد عبدالعزیز بن عبدالصمد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے حصین بن عبدالرحمٰن نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابو وائل نے اور ان سے حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: ہم پہلے نماز میں (مختلف لوگوں کے ناموں کے ساتھ) سلام کیا کرتے تھے اور آپس میں ایک دوسرے کو سلام بھیجتے تھے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے سن کر ارشاد فرمایا: اس طرح کہا کرو «التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَىٰ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِينَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ» یعنی تمام قولی عبادتیں، بدنی عبادتیں اور مالی عبادتیں اللہ ہی کے لیے ہیں۔ اے نبی! آپ پر سلام ہو اور اللہ کی رحمت اور اس کی برکتیں ہوں۔ ہم پر سلام ہو اور اللہ کے تمام نیک بندوں پر۔ میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اللہ کے بندے اور رسول ہیں۔ اگر تم نے یہ پڑھ لیا تو گویا اللہ کے ہر نیک بندے کو سلام پہنچا دیا جو آسمان اور زمین میں ہے۔
