حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْأُرُزِّيُّ قَالَ نا عَاصِمُ بْنُ مِهْجَعٍ قَالَ نا قَزَعَةُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ مَحْمُودٍ عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا حَضَرْتُمْ مَوْتَاكُمْ فَأَغْمِضُوا الْبَصَرَ فَإِنَّ الْبَصَرَ يَتْبَعُ الرُّوحَ وَقُولُوا خَيْرًا فَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تُؤَمِّنُ عَلَى مَا قَالَ أَهْلُ الْمَيِّتِ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَى حُمَيْدٌ الْأَعْرَجُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ حَدِيثًا مُسْنَدًا إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ وَحَدِيثًا آخَرَ رَوَاهُ جَعْفَ��ُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ حَدِيثَ الْإِفْكِ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ إِلَّا قَزَعَةُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ ذِكْرُنَا لِقَزَعَةَ وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ وَقَالَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ وَالزُّهْرِيِّ وَلَمْ يُحَدِّثْ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا حَضَرْتُمْ مَوْتَاكُمْ فَأَغْمِضُوا الْبَصَرَ فَإِنَّ الْبَصَرَ يَتْبَعُ الرُّوحَ وَقُولُوا خَيْرًا فَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تُؤَمِّنُ عَلَى مَا قَالَ أَهْلُ الْمَيِّتِ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَى حُمَيْدٌ الْأَعْرَجُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ حَدِيثًا مُسْنَدًا إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ وَحَدِيثًا آخَرَ رَوَاهُ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ حَدِيثَ الْإِفْكِ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ إِلَّا قَزَعَةُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ ذِكْرُنَا لِقَزَعَةَ وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ وَقَالَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ وَالزُّهْرِيِّ وَلَمْ يُحَدِّثْ عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ

Al-Hasan ibn Yahya al-Uruzzi narrated to us, he said: Asim ibn Mihja' narrated to us, he said: Qaza'ah ibn Suwayd narrated to us from Humayd al-A'raj from al-Zuhri from Mahmud from Shaddad ibn Aws (may Allah be well pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'When you are present at the death of your dead, close their eyes, for indeed the eyesight follows the soul. And say good words, for the angels say "Amen" to what the family of the deceased says.' This hadith — we do not know it to be narrated from Shaddad ibn Aws except through this chain, and we do not know that Humayd al-A'raj narrated from al-Zuhri any hadith with a connected chain except this hadith and another hadith narrated by Ja'far ibn Sulayman from Humayd al-A'raj from al-Zuhri from Urwah from A'ishah — the hadith of the Ifk. We do not know of anyone who narrated it from Humayd except Qaza'ah ibn Suwayd, and we have already mentioned Qaza'ah. It is actually al-Zuhri from Mahmud ibn al-Rabi', but in this hadith he said 'from Mahmud ibn Labid,' and al-Zuhri did not narrate from Mahmud ibn Labid.
